The Golden Ram, a stunning captive-bred color variant of the popular Ram Cichlid, is a vibrant and beautiful freshwater fish that will instantly become the focal point of your aquarium. These large specimens, with their brilliant golden-yellow bodies and subtle metallic hues, are a magnificent sight to behold.

The Golden Ram is a dwarf cichlid known for its peaceful, yet inquisitive, nature. They are an excellent choice for a well-maintained community tank with other similarly sized and non-aggressive fish. Their engaging behavior, such as sifting through the substrate for food and exploring their surroundings, will keep you entertained for hours.

While they are a rewarding fish to keep, Golden Rams are sensitive to water quality and are best suited for intermediate to advanced aquarists who can provide a stable and pristine environment. With the right care, these magnificent fish will thrive, showcasing their beautiful colors and engaging personalities.

Care and Aquarium Requirements:

  • Tank Size: A minimum tank size of 20 gallons is recommended for a pair, with a larger tank required for a group.

  • Water Conditions: They are sensitive to poor water quality. They thrive in soft, slightly acidic water with a pH range of 6.0-7.5 and a temperature of 25-30°C. Frequent, partial water changes are essential to keep nitrate levels low.

  • Diet: As omnivores, they require a varied diet. Provide high-quality sinking pellets or flakes, and supplement with live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia to bring out their best colors and ensure their health.

  • Tank Setup: Replicate their natural habitat with a fine sandy substrate, which they will enjoy sifting through. Provide plenty of hiding places with driftwood, rocks, and dense plant cover to make them feel secure and reduce stress.

  • Community: They are best kept in a male-female pair or a small group. Good tank mates include small tetras, Corydoras catfish, and other peaceful community fish. Avoid housing them with boisterous or aggressive species.

Add a touch of golden brilliance to your home aquarium with the breathtaking large Golden Ram. This fish is not just a pet; it's a piece of living art that will bring endless enjoyment.
