Care and Aquarium Requirements:

• Tank Size: We recommend a minimum tank size of 30 gallons for a small group, with a much larger aquarium (50+ gallons) being necessary as they mature and to house a larger group.

   

• Water Conditions: They are quite adaptable and can thrive in a range of water parameters. They prefer slightly acidic to neutral water with a pH range of 6.5-7.5 and a temperature of 24-28°C.

   

• Diet: As omnivores, they enjoy a varied diet. Provide them with high-quality cichlid pellets or flakes, and supplement with live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia to bring out their best colors.

   

• Tank Setup: Provide plenty of hiding places with rocks, caves, and driftwood. A sandy substrate is ideal as they enjoy sifting through it and digging.

   

• Community: They can be housed with other peaceful community fish of a similar size. Avoid housing them with overly aggressive or very small, delicate species.
