Bring a bold and fascinating new member to your aquarium with the Red Crab. This small crab, often a Red Claw Crab, is a true showstopper, named for its brilliant, bright red claws that stand out against its dark or mottled body. It adds a dynamic and unique presence to a properly set up semi-aquatic environment.
The Red Crab is a peaceful but territorial invertebrate. It's a semi-terrestrial species, so it needs both a water area and a land area to thrive. It can be housed with peaceful fish that won't bother it, but it may be territorial with other crabs of its own kind, so be sure to provide plenty of space and hiding spots. It's a hardy and interesting addition to a biotope tank.
Diet
For their diet, Red Crabs are omnivores and scavengers. They will happily eat leftover fish food that sinks to the bottom of the tank. To ensure they get all the necessary nutrients, you should supplement their diet with high-quality sinking pellets and algae wafers. You can also occasionally offer small pieces of fresh food like blanched zucchini, bloodworms, or brine shrimp. A balanced diet will help them maintain their brilliant coloration and overall health.
