Red Fire Parrot Cichlid - 2.5"

A vibrant and playful addition to your community aquarium!

The Red Fire Parrot Cichlid is a popular and striking hybrid freshwater fish known for its intense red-orange coloration and unique, charming personality. These 2.5" juveniles are a fantastic size to bring home, allowing you to watch them grow and develop into a true centerpiece of your tank.

Unlike some of their more aggressive cichlid relatives, Fire Parrots are known for their relatively peaceful and playful nature. They have a distinctive, rounded body shape and a small, V-shaped mouth that adds to their endearing appearance. Their inquisitive and active behavior makes them a joy to watch as they interact with their surroundings and other tank mates.

As they mature, their brilliant red color will become more pronounced, making them a stunning focal point. A key feature of these fish is their unique mouth structure, which makes them incapable of biting and less of a threat to other fish. They are great candidates for a community tank with other similarly sized, peaceful fish.

Care and Aquarium Requirements:

  • Tank Size: A minimum tank size of 30 gallons is recommended for a single fish, with a larger aquarium (55+ gallons) being necessary for a group to allow them to establish territories and have plenty of swimming space.

  • Water Conditions: They are quite adaptable and can thrive in a range of water parameters. They prefer a pH range of 6.5-7.5 and a temperature of 24-28°C.

  • Diet: As omnivores, they enjoy a varied diet. Provide them with high-quality cichlid pellets or flakes, and supplement with live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia to ensure their health and vibrant coloration.

  • Tank Setup: Provide plenty of hiding places with rocks, caves, and driftwood. A sandy substrate is ideal as they enjoy sifting through it and digging.

  • Community: They can be housed with other peaceful community fish of a similar size. Avoid housing them with very aggressive species or small, delicate fish that they might accidentally bother.

Bring a touch of fiery brilliance and playful charm to your home aquarium with the Red Fire Parrot Cichlid. This fish is a great choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists looking for a fish with personality and a beautiful aesthetic.
